Why I’m Ditching the 12-Week Course (And What’s Coming Instead)
Here’s the thing about AI in 2025 – it moves faster than a greyhound on espresso!
When I announced the Perplexity AI for Investing course a few weeks back, I genuinely thought a structured 12-week program was the answer. Turns out, I was wrong. And I’m okay admitting that. Let me explain what happened, why I’m pivoting, and what this actually means for you if you’re serious about using AI for your investment research.
The Wake-Up Call
The feedback from those of you who expressed an interest in the course was eye-opening. Some of you were in all honesty complete AI novices but were keen and ready to learn from scratch. Others had already started using Perplexity, with varying degrees of success.
Trying to create a one-size-fits-all course for that range of progress? That’s like trying to teach both beginners and racing drivers in the same driving lesson. It just doesn’t work.
But here’s what really sealed the decision: AI tools are evolving so fast that course content becomes outdated almost before I can even finish recording it.
Case in point – Perplexity launched three major features in the past six weeks alone. A fixed 12-week course would in all probability be teaching you yesterday’s technology by week 3.
The New Approach: AI for DIY Investing Membership
After listening to your feedback and watching how quickly this space moves, I’ve completely restructured the offering.
Instead of a rigid course, I’m launching a flexible membership model on DIY-Investors.AI starting January 1, 2026. Think of it as your ongoing AI investing education that actually keeps pace with the technology but grounded in very practical investing terms.
Here’s what you’ll get:
Interactive Monthly Webinars
Live sessions where I’ll walk through some of the latest AI tools, techniques, and workflows for investment research. These aren’t lectures – they’re working sessions with Q&A baked in. Can’t make it live? Every session gets recorded and added to the members’ area within 24-48 hours.
The format of the monthly meetings will feel familiar if you’re already a DIY-Investors.com member, but the content is 100% focused on AI applications for investing. Any reference to an individual stock will be purely related to having real data to analyse/demonstrate workflows and automations.
Practical “How-To” Guides
I can see there is a need for occasional written guides on some of the more detailed topics. These will be produced, covering specific (requested) AI investing topics and workflows, including the exact process for you to follow. This will include screenshots, prompts, checklists and possibly short explanatory videos (where appropriate).
These guides will be published and be available for members and non-members alike, although members will get a 33% discount on the cost of these.
Free ‘Kick-Off’ Webinar
To give you a proper taste of what’s coming, I’m running a free inaugural webinar in December. We’ll cover setting up and using Perplexity for DIY investing from the ground up. No paid membership required – just show up ready to learn.
The Investment
I’ve kept the pricing straightforward:
- Monthly: £30 – Pay as you go, cancel anytime
- Annual: £300 – That’s 10 months for the price of 12, saving you two months
Both options give you full access (during your period of membership) to all webinars, recordings, guides, and any resources I create throughout the year.
Why This Makes Sense
Look, I could have stubbornly pushed forward with the original course. Recorded all 12 weeks, packaged it nicely, and called it done.
But that’s not how I like to work, and it’s not what I believe you deserve.
If I’ve learned anything from 14 years of helping DIY-Iinvestors, it’s that things change and the best ‘education’ adapts to real needs. A membership model lets me respond to what’s actually happening in the AI space right now, not what I thought would be important three months ago when I planned a course curriculum. It also enables me to incorporate feedback as we go along… matching the needs of members more closely.
You’ll learn tools and techniques that are relevant today, next month, and throughout 2026 – not outdated methods locked in a course recorded last quarter.
